| [Albuquerque, NM]—Karen Sanchez-Griego has been named principal for Albuquerque Public Schools new Southwest high school, which will open in fall 2008 with a 9th grade academy. “Ms. Sanchez-Griego has a wealth of administrative and instructional experience that should serve her well in her new position,” said APS Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Everitt. “She also is bilingual and has experience working with diverse communities.” Sanchez-Griego, who is currently working on her doctorate in education at the University of New Mexico, holds a master’s degree in education from UNM. She has worked as the executive director of the ENLACE, or Engaging Latino Communities for Education, since July 2001 and has been the APS executive on loan to that program. She was an assistant principal at Cibola High School from 1997 to 2001 and started teaching in APS in 1990. Angel |
